Regional Rehabilitation Institute Offers Pregnancy Aquatic Class

RAPID CITY, SD - Regional Rehabilitation Institute is starting a once-a-week, four-week pregnancy aquatic class beginning Tuesday, Aug. 3. Skills learned can be transferred to an independent pool program.
Aquatic exercise has proven beneficial to pregnant women in many ways. Some benefits include a decrease in impact on joints and risk of injury; prevention of overheating by water’s cooling effect; the pushing of excess fluid into the bloodstream by water-against-skin friction lessening water retention; and the feeling of moving more gracefully in the water.
Classes are led by a physical therapist trained in women’s health, orthopedic conditions, obstetric physical therapy and fitness. The program follows the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) guidelines for exercise and is designed for women at any stage of pregnancy with approval from their doctor.

The four-week session will be every Tuesday, August 3 – 24 at 6 p.m. for approximately one hour. Cost is $40. Pool attire includes swimsuit or shorts and shirt. Towels will be provided by the Regional Rehabilitation Institute. Call now as class size is limited.

To enroll in this class or for more information regarding this program or other Regional Rehabilitation Institute programs, please call (605) 719-1100.
