RAPID CITY, SD - Jessica Foster, DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy), recently joined Regional Rehabilitation Institute as a member of the Vestibular and Balance team. Team members have all completed specialty training in vestibular and balance disorders. According to the U.S. National Institute of Health, dizziness/vertigo is one of the most common reasons for a doctor visit and affects about 10 percent of Americans younger than 40 years of age. After age 40, that percentage goes up to 40 percent and 60 percent or more by age 80.
If you suffer from dizziness, imbalance, motion sensitivity, have had a stroke, brain injury or suffered from ear infections, the Vestibular and Balance team may be able to help. The program offers a comprehensive physical therapy and audiologic evaluation and then designs an individualized treatment plan. The goal of therapy is to decrease dizziness and nausea, improve balance, prevent falls and improve quality of life.
