Volunteers Honored for Contributions to Rapid City Regional Hospital

RAPID CITY, SD - As part of National Volunteer Week, many of Rapid City Regional Hospital’s volunteers were honored during a Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Brunch on April 16.

“We are very proud of our volunteers as they are an essential part of our organization, and our community,” said Konnie Sorensen, Interim Director of Volunteer Services for Rapid City Regional Hospital. “We celebrate their commitment. Each one of them makes a difference here at Rapid City Regional Hospital.”

“Celebrating People in Action” was the theme of this year’s event. Volunteers received recognition for cumulative hours. For 250 hours, volunteers were presented with a pin to commemorate those efforts. Volunteers received a charm to affix to the pin, for each 500 hours accumulated thereafter.

Honors were awarded at the following levels:

250 hours: Jo Aarsby, Reva Blundell, Preston Brown, Connie Bruhn, Megan Byram, Mary Lou Derksen, Stacy Dole, Louise Engelstad, Jeanne Graves, Patt Grotenhouse, Shelia Hernandez, Doloros Kerr, Sandi Lewis, Leora Likens, Sonja Lowe, Shirley McDonald, Glenda Meeks, Judy Mehlhaff, Mary Pettingell, Harold Plooster, Karen Poppe, Leo Stulc, Wilma Theis, Lorraine Weimer and Thomas Williams.

500 hours: Vivian Bailly, Haim Bober, Connie Bruhn, Amy Brumlow, Debora Brummet, Juanita Christianson, Dan Gammeter, Darline Hill, Leora Likens, Sonja Lowe, S. Volunteers are an integral part of Rapid City Regional Hospital. Each year, volunteers contribute more than 43,000 hours to the hospital. The volunteer base includes individuals who give their time and talent in many areas, to assist our patients, visitors, and staff.
